Swimming Lessons

Well this might not be Nathan and Brady, but boy did they enjoy swimming lessons! We are taking lessons at St. Joseph's College of Maine and they are in the Quackers level. It is 30 minutes of singing and splashing. They both got into the pool without a peep, I thought for sure Brady might let out a little bit of a cry from the cooler water, but he was a trooper. We even were able to try dunking them under water, Nathan sneezed after coming up and Brady cried a tiny bit after the shock and he held right on to his Daddy. Overall it was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to next week!

Nathan and Brady's 9 month check-up

Nathan and Brady had their 9 month check-up today and I was happy that they didn't receive any immunizations at this appointment.

Vital Stats:

Nathan-

Weight- 22lbs and 13oz

Length- 28 inches

Head Circumfrence- 18 1/2"

Brady-

Weight- 21lbs and 14oz

Length- 28 inches

Head Circumfrence- 18 1/2"

The boys are doing great! They are exactly the same length and their head's are the same size. They are in the 80th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height. The Dr. was really happy with how they are progressing. They do have to start on some flouride drops because we are on well water and it doesn't contain flouride. I have started introducing them to some food other than baby food, thanks to Lisa Travis's encouragement. We have started toast in the morning, which they enjoy. I have tried some pinto beans and I introduced some cottage cheese, but they didn't like that very much. I am going to have to buy the small curd because that is the part they spit out. We also tried some American Cheese yesterday at lunch and they really liked that too! They are getting a full set of teeth; Brady has his top 2 and bottom 2 and Nathan has his top 4 and bottom 2. Anyway that is all for now!!

State to State Playdate!

Yesterday Nathan, Brady and I drove to Winchester, MA to have a play date with my longtime friend Gretchen and her two boys Thomas and Jack. We were also joined by another longtime friend Elizabeth and her twins, Hannah and Jack and her newborn son, Nathaniel. Yes you count them, 7 kids under the age of 3.

We headed out around 8:30 and arrived at 10:30, Nathan and Brady slept the entire way, which was great since it was their nap time. When we arrived we did a lot of playing inside with all the kids and I did a lot of chasing around. After lunch we headed outside to enjoy the beautiful day and the girls even had a chance to have an afternoon cup of coffee. It was a lot of fun and we look forward to many more play dates!!

Fleece to Beach

Yesterday Nathan, Brady and I went for an evening stroll in the Old Port. It was a lovely evening, but there was a nip in the air. I had Nathan bundled in his new Bean's fleece and Brady was sporting his vest. It is nice to stroll in town and enjoy these last "outside" days. I did become innately aware how unfriendly the Old Port is to strollers, let alone someone in a wheelchair. There really were not many stores that I could go downtown, but considering the Old Port and Portland date back to the 1800's do I really expect anything more than quaint cobblestone streets?

Today the boys and I ventured to Casino Beach! I will admit this was the first time they had been to the beach ever, but in my defense two infants at the beach is quite an undertaking. I was joined by my brother and my niece, Sydney. We only lasted about an hour. Brady and Nathan both liked the sand, touching their toes and taking a little nibble when they thought I wasn't looking; however they didn't like the ice cold water. As soon as we touched their toes to the water they started crying. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but I know next year will be a lot more fun!!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend was enjoyable, but would have been even better if Jon didn't have to work Sunday and Monday! My sister-in-law and brother-in-law came on Saturday for the weekend and they kept me and the boys company! I actually had a few hours off to myself on Sunday because my parents came to watch the boys for me. Leigh, Brent and I headed to Portland and we went on a scenic cruise along Casco Bay, what a beautiful day out on the open water. After the cruise we visited the Portland Lobster Company for a delicious lobster roll. It is so fun to be a tourist :>) Leigh and Brent bought Nathan and Brady new hats for the fall, but the boys have become very able to take them off on their own. I will keep trying, but for now they look pretty darn cute in them!
