It was safe to say that this weekend had to have broken some records. It was so hot and humid, especially in Gorham. My thermoter read 95 degrees! Jon had to work on Saturday, but as soon as he got home we headed for the coast! We decided to pack a picnic dinner and hit Casino Beach in Cape to cool down and spend some time together. As we headed towards the coast my thermoter slowly went down in degrees and by the time we got to Casino Beach it was 15 degrees cooler, thank goodness. The beach was packed for 3:30, I honestly thought people would have trickled home by then, but I guess everyone had the same idea as we did. We ran into Chris Roberts finishing her day up at the beach, lucky girl :>) Brady and Nathan weren't quite sure what to make of the sand, this was only the 2nd time they had been to the beach. Once Nathan had his shovel in hand and the bucket by his side, he was off. Brady stuck close to Jon's side the whole time! After an hour or so at the beach we decided to pack up and head to Ft. Williams Playground. It was only right around the corner, but by the time we got there we had to put the boys in coats because it was that much cooler. We go from 95 and sticky in Gorham to 75 and cool in Cape, oh we can't wait to move! The boys had a BLAST on the playground. I ran into a high school classmate of mine, Erin Brassard, blast from the past and her two adorable kids!! After the playground we heard some music playing and decided to stroll over and be nosy and ran into Matt Plummer at the tree climbing competition. Apparently Payson and Sarah had already ventured home and we were disappointed not to have gotten to see them. We stayed for a bit and then the cool air got the better of us! It was an awesome few hours as a family and I am looking forward to many more days like this one !!

On Sunday Jon took off early to meet Ray and some friend for a 40 mile bike ride in preparation for the Trek Across Maine which is this weekend ! Single parenting with two little ones, can we say BUSY! Anyway, the boys and I enjoyed a lazy morning of playing and relaxing. It is always so nice when I am not having to rush the three of us out the door in the morning in a race to drop off at day-care and to work by 8am! The boys took a early nap and when they woke up we headed to Gorham Bike & Ski to buy me a road bike, yep you heard me right! It was very exciting for the boys for about the first 20 minutes and then all chaos broke loose! What was I thinking bringing them without help :>) They did not want to be in the stroller, but I couldn't watch them and listen to the sales man at the same time. It all worked out and I left with a pretty new bike that I will be using this evening as long as it doesn't rain!! It is going to make the bike part of the tri a little easier on me, before I was going to use my mountain bike (sigh). Now all I need is a treadmill!!!! That is my next dream purchase. No time to go to the gym, so I need to bring the gym to home!
In the evening we headed over to Jill and Ched's for a BBQ in South Portland. Once again, it was about 15 degrees cooler over there. They have a son, Michael, who will be turning 2 on August 31st! All three of them had a blast together. Brady and Michael had a ball in the pool and the boys even got their first ice-cream cones! They loved them! All in all is was a great weekend and I am looking forward to this weekend because it is Family Fun Day in Cape Elizabeth. I plan on making this a tradition with the boys, I grew up going to this and I still hold very fond memories of GREAT times with friends and family!
