Fleece to Beach

Yesterday Nathan, Brady and I went for an evening stroll in the Old Port. It was a lovely evening, but there was a nip in the air. I had Nathan bundled in his new Bean's fleece and Brady was sporting his vest. It is nice to stroll in town and enjoy these last "outside" days. I did become innately aware how unfriendly the Old Port is to strollers, let alone someone in a wheelchair. There really were not many stores that I could go downtown, but considering the Old Port and Portland date back to the 1800's do I really expect anything more than quaint cobblestone streets?

Today the boys and I ventured to Casino Beach! I will admit this was the first time they had been to the beach ever, but in my defense two infants at the beach is quite an undertaking. I was joined by my brother and my niece, Sydney. We only lasted about an hour. Brady and Nathan both liked the sand, touching their toes and taking a little nibble when they thought I wasn't looking; however they didn't like the ice cold water. As soon as we touched their toes to the water they started crying. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, but I know next year will be a lot more fun!!

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend was enjoyable, but would have been even better if Jon didn't have to work Sunday and Monday! My sister-in-law and brother-in-law came on Saturday for the weekend and they kept me and the boys company! I actually had a few hours off to myself on Sunday because my parents came to watch the boys for me. Leigh, Brent and I headed to Portland and we went on a scenic cruise along Casco Bay, what a beautiful day out on the open water. After the cruise we visited the Portland Lobster Company for a delicious lobster roll. It is so fun to be a tourist :>) Leigh and Brent bought Nathan and Brady new hats for the fall, but the boys have become very able to take them off on their own. I will keep trying, but for now they look pretty darn cute in them!

Fall is around the corner!

As I sit here and type this the temperature is a chilly 62 degrees! It isn't September yet, isn't it still supposed to be in the 70s and 80s. I can't help but get a little excited for fall, it takes me back to when I was younger. I loved getting a new cozy fleece jacket from L.L Bean's and I paired it with some new Gap Jeans! We made a trip to Bean's last weekend and we purchased Nathan and Brady their first fleece jackets to carry on the tradition. They also got new monogrammed backpacks so when they start out at daycare in December they will have cool new bags. We have really been enjoying these last weeks in August, but we look forward to the fall foliage and taking the boy's apple picking for the first time.

Beach 2 Beacon

Yesterday was the 10Th Annual Beach to Beacon road race in Cape Elizabeth and it proved, as always, to be a lot of fun. I didn't finish with any course breaking records, but I finished! I ran with my Dad and we kept each other motivated the entire 6.2 miles, the spectator's cheering everyone on also helped. Special thanks to Krista, Carrie, Julie, Amy and Ashleigh for extra big shouts! We gathered with some of the CEHS 1994 crew at Bern's after and I have posted a photo with the babes. They include; Nathan, Brady, Juliet, Ava, William and Lucy!

Lazy Days of Summer

Today was such a great and relaxing day. I am not sure what set it apart from any other day, but I think it was all of the fresh air! The morning started with storytime at the Cape library, which is customary on Wednesdays. We ran into all of our mom friends and all of their cute babies. We then continued on to my mother's house and my niece was spending the day with her which was great! She loves Nathan and Brady...I also enjoyed an hour visit with Krista and was able to catch up with her, which was fabulous. I ended the day over at a friend's pool which was so relaxing. Between all the fresh air and seeing some wonderful friends this day was great!
